Summer has arrived and with warmer weather comes annoying pests like mosquitoes, wasps, and flies. Most would hit up their local supermarket to purchase expensive chemical bug repellents that aren’t always effective, but one man learned a trick in Lebanon that he swears by. So, what’s the secret? Burning your everyday coffee grounds.
When you’re outside in your backyard you want to guard yourself against pesky and potentially harmful insects. With the recent outbreak of the Zika virus and the ever-looming threat of West Nile, it is more important than ever to protect yourself and your family from mosquitoes. Having a cookout? This genius method also keeps hungry flies off of your burgers and potato salad.
Simply grab a piece of aluminum foil, a small handful of unused coffee grounds, and a match. Put the coffee on top of the foil and place in a spot away from anything that could easily catch fire such as dry grass. Light it up and you’re ready to go. As the smoke wafts through the air, the bugs will be driven away by its pungent scent. If you’re occupying a large area, you might want to set up 2-3 of these burning coffee mounds to enjoy the outdoors bug-free.
