The video below will show you a sort of love we all desire. 93-year-old Laura is on her deathbed, while her husband Howard stands over her, looking at each other like they are only two people in the world.
They`ve been married for 73 years. And their love is the same as the first day, you can see it in their eyes and from their gentle whispers “I love you”.
Then someone puts on their song, “You`ll never know” by Alice Faye.
Howard spends their last moments together singing their song, bent over Laura. Tears run down while he sings these lyrics, while stroking her hair gently:
“You’ll never know just how much I miss you.
You’ll never know just how much I care.
And if I tried, I still couldn’t hide my love for you.
You ought to know, for haven’t I told you so
A million or more times?”
Even on her deathbed, both of them have the humor, probably this is the one thing (besides their special love) that got them through all those decades of marriage. When he stops singing, she laughs: “Isn`t he sweet? He must really like me.”
At the end of the song, he gives her a kiss, saying: “You are mine”, and she responds the same way.
