One of the more serious effects of Cordyceps and in traditional and modern medicine is the ability to rate stabilization and correction of cardiac arrhythmias. Since clinical data on Cordyceps is relatively new, the recommended dose can vary. In general, clinical trials were performed with 3 – 4 ml and up to 5 ml per day of this fungus, except in cases of the severe liver disease, when the dose was increased to 6-9 ml per day. Although this amount can be done too, clinical results achieved with this therapy are outstanding and has not been registered (recorded) toxicity of this fungus.

Numerous studies show the benefits of this fungus in treating heart rhythm disorders such as heart failure, chronic weakness of the heart and cardiac arrhythmia. Four studies have demonstrated that Cordyceps Sinensis helped to lower levels of total cholesterol by 10-21% and triglycerides (neutral fats) by 9-26% and at the same time helped to increase HDL (good) cholesterol by 27-30%.

Those are enzyme tests which show changes in the function of the liver. A Chinese study showed an improvement of 51% in chronic kidney disease after only one month of using this fungus. Several clinical studies on cancer patients conducted in China and Japan, using a therapeutic dose of 6.0 grams of this fungus per day and it has been shown that tumors were reduced in 46% of patients in the period of two months.

Researchers from Japan informed that this fungus enhances the general reactivity of the immune system.

Clinical research in controlled studies has revealed that elderly patients suffering from fatigue and symptoms associated with dementia reported an improvement of the situation after 30 days. Their fatigue was reduced by 92% and feeling the cold by 89% and dizziness in 83%. Patients with respiratory problems felt physically stronger and some individuals were able to jog in the shorter distances. Several studies have shown that this fungus provides protection against damage caused by free radicals and has strong antioxidant properties. A study conducted at the Institute of Material Medical in Beijing showed an 86% improvement in female libido and desire. The most dramatic physical evidence comes from studies of fertility in the 22 men who showed that after eight weeks of taking supplements of this fungus a sperm count has been increased by 33%, the percentage of malformed sperm decreased by 29%, and the percentage of survival of their sperm increased by 79 %.
