The color of the urine depends on the processes occurring in our body and it’s often the first alarm that something is wrong with our health. Here is how you can at least guess for yourself what kind of health problem is in question before you go to your doctor.
- Colorless, almost transparent
You probably drink a lot of fluids, probably more than you should. It would be good if you lower the intake of fluids a bit.
- Color of a bright straw
That indicates a healthy person, meaning you have a well hydrated and hormonally balanced body.
- Transparent yellow
This color of the urine means that everything is normal – so don’t worry, everything is okay with your health.
- Dark yellow
Normally, you shouldn’t panic. However, drink more water and fluids so that you don’t cross the border.
- Honey color
You are probably before dehydration and your body urgently needs water. Immediately drink one or two glasses.
- Darker amber color
This could possibly indicate liver problems, or severe dehydration. Drink 2 liters of water a day, and if you don’t see a change in the color, visit your doctor.
- Pink to red
Don’t panic if you’ve consumed beets or blueberries. Pinkish urine indicates blood which doesn’t have to mean that it’s necessarily dangerous, if you had sex recently or you are before menses. Yet blood in the urine also indicates problem with the kidneys. Go to the doctor anyway.
You probably don’t consume enough water, or have problems with the liver or the bile.
- Green or blue tint
A rare genetic disorder makes the urine green or blue. Also, some bacteria can cause that coloration. Maybe consumption of drugs cause it too. However, don’t wait too long before you see your doctor.
- Foaming Urine
If it occurs occasionally, it is a harmless phenomenon, but if it happens more often, it may mean that you’re eating too much protein or have kidney problems. Visit a doctor if this lasts for longer periods.
